a (mostly) daily story of an emerging startup

First screenshot(s)

Spurred on by the community at vencorps we have made the decision to upload some of our screenshots in order to satisfy the intense demand for information.  Bear in mind that nothing is set in stone, and this is a prototype, not at all ready for prime time.

This is a view taken from an overview page that Dave was working on.  It is really elementary, the space only contains a few items, but it is a first crack at part of our beloved UI.

More to come. . .

4:30 am and no pants

As refferenced in my last post, the ideabreaker team was invited into vencorps’ first round of startups vying for crowd-powered capital.  It has been an exciting experience, and we truly feel that our chances are good.  I shot a pitch video the same night that we recieved the invite.  I thought that throwing on a clean shirt and brushing my hairl would be a good start :)   I then proceeded to dismantle the chandelier in the dining room and build a less than decent lighting rig.  I placed a high-chair on the table, placed the camera on the high chair and went to town.  It must have really looked ridiculous from the outside, but I thought it was a sweet rig.  Anyway here are 2 minutes about our product complete with invisible pants and droopy eyes :)

ideabreaker, vencorps and a broken rear view mirror

howAs a member of the soon to me a memory Cambrian House, I had the opportunity to be one of the first individuals invited to vencorps.  Vencorps is the crowd driven private equity platform pioneered by Sean Wise. It is backed financially by Spencer Trask, and has caused quite a bit of stir in both VC, and Crowdsourcing communities.  As the co-conspirator of ideabreaker.com, I immediately uploaded our profile info, executive summary, founder bios, and a video pitch.  The response has been is very swift to say the least.   The most excellent aspect of this endeavor for our company is that it has forced us to smash the rearview mirror off of the windshield.  As anyone who has followed us knows, the platform has changed considerably since April, undergoing 3 major overhauls and numerous revisions.  We are confident in the place where we have arrived, but there is always that desire to innovate further.

We have been pitching investors for several weeks, and the reception has been primarily positive, but it seems that we wanted to reinvent the wheel before each meeting.  Thanks in part to vencorps, that strategy is well over with.  This makes for an exciting time, trust me.  With any luck we will be the recipients of thier first funding round in July and walk away with 50k and a considerable support system.  We truly believe that we have just as good a chance as anyone, but the competition is pretty stiff.

On behalf of the ideabreaker team, I would just like to thank everyone for thier counsel, advice, and prayers.  They have been most felt and appreciated.

Be sure to check out the new interactive map on www.ideabreaker.com.
